Not Derailed, Not Dead, and Not Done Blogging
Oh where oh where have I been? Goodness me. What can I say? Has it really been a month since my last blog entry? What’s up with that?
So many times I thought about blogging, but then somehow I got derailed and nothing was written. And there were so many silly and cool things I wanted to post about, like the awful green striped pants that I bought from Talbots Online when I was clearly having a TIA (transient ischemic attack) Oh my goodness. It was like I was having a Preppy Handbook flashback.
And my exercise. I planned to whine about how I was running for an hour every other day, though barely losing any weight. (And please don’t start with the “muscle weighs more than fat” platitude that I have heard forever) Unfortunately numbness in the balls of my feet after 45 minutes of running made me conclude that perhaps I need to add some variety to my workouts to give my feet some rest. So i’ve been doing aerobics tapes and using the exercise bike, but it doesn’t feel as good a workout as running. Oh well.
Then there was the Friday from hell a week ago. I swore it must have been Friday the 13th. Willow (kitty #2) was bleeding from her paws. My HSG was cancelled and the techs called me “nasty.” My period (which should have been long over) was so heavy that I bled through my pants. I collided with another car in the parking lot after trying to leave the doctor’s office and I was on the phone with the insurance company without pants when the delivery guys came with my new couch and loveseat.
What about my decorating/refurbishing the house? I should be showing pictures of the now-arrived (after an 8 week wait) sectional and love seat. Also, you’ve got to see the bed I ordered (due in 8 to 10 weeks). Then the kitchen remodeling. I haven’t started yet, but have some great ideas to discuss here.
Let’s not forget my birthday last Sunday. Mason took me to the “land of magical creatures.” (No, not Hogwarts, but the Philly Zoo). And he made me a carrot cake from scratch! I was truly impressed with my dear hubby. I’m not thrilled with having turned 43, but I guess it beats the alternative.
And my mood. What an improvement! I don’t know if it is the exercise or the EPA I started taking after reading studies about how much it helps treatment-resistant depression and bipolar disorder. I feel so sane and balanced these days. It is hard to believe.
What about my baby plans, you are probably wondering? Well I am attacking the issue with a two-pronged approach. I’ve completed the initial application for a local adoption agency that specializes in placement of black and biracial newborns. Also, my dear gynecologist Sam is going to reoperate on June 6th to attempt to clean up my fibroids that are affecting my uterine cavity. If all goes well, I plan to travel to South Africa for an FET in September. Dr. Le Roux says that we have 14 totsicles frozen at the blast stage to work with. Somehow, someway I will be a mom before I turn 44.
See what I mean? There has been a ton of stuff for me to blog about. But actually sitting down and blogging was another thing entirely. But I decided that during this trip to NY, I would take the time to sit my ass down and catch up.
I hope that my friends have not all forgotten me.
Now I’m off to the spiffy hotel gym before going to see Spamalot tonight!

Boy have I missed you! BTW – I had the same problem, cross training is the key and throw in some weight lifting!
I’ve lurked here for a long time, and am incredibly glad to see you back!
Best wishes with your two-pronged attack for the future.
I’ve missed you as well. I don’t always comment, but I do always check in and read what you have to say.
I hope the fibroidectomy goes smoothly. I’m still stratching my scar from mine last year which became keloid. Don’t forget to rub E oil on it like I did.
Happy belated birthday! 43 – I hope it’s a good year, better than last, with adoption, couldn’t you be mom at 43? I hope it will happen soon, and more than once.
Liana – I’m so happy to see you back. I’ve been checking regularly and hoping that all has been ok with you. Sounds like you had a lovely bday, and I’m envious about Spamalot – I’ve wanted to see the show forever. I didn’t realize it was running in Philly – I’ll have to go visit the parents so I can catch the show!
Good luck with the surgery on Tuesday. I’ll be thinking about you!
