Major Thanks to Kevin!

I’ve got to send a message of thanks to my new friend in England, Kevin Flint. Kevin saved my bacon the other day and I just got to let people know how amazing customer service is across the pond.
Here’s the deal. When Mason and I were planning our wedding in 2003, we did all the usual registry business and picked formal and informal china and all that jazz. We settled on an informal silverware pattern pretty easily, but formal silver proved to be a problem. Most of the patterns I looked at here in the US were, in a word, hideous. They were ornate, bulky and just not my style. But then I found Arthur Price of England.
There I saw and fell in love with their pattern called Silver Dawn.

Sleek, elegant and modern…it was everything I was looking for. They helped me create a registry page for the silver that linked to our wedding website. We ended up receiving 5 place settings and a serving set, which they sent promptly. All was well.
Now here’s where I did something stupid. Though we had received cash wedding gifts, I was reluctant to spend the money and buy the remaining place settings. Money was tight and Mason wasn’t working, so I just held the money in a savings account until our financial future looked a little better. However, when the coffers did improve, I just forgot to go back and order the remaining place settings.
It wasn’t until my aunt suggested that the family come to my house for Thanksgiving this year, that I finally said to myself, “Gee, I’d better finish the set of formal silver.” But there was a problem, I soon discovered. A big problem. Arthur Price of England decided to discontinue Silver Dawn entirely! It was nowhere to be found.
And this is where I first encountered Kevin. He had to break the news to me that there was no more Silver Dawn.
Of course I freaked out. (Yes, I am one of those people who freaks out if items don’t match or she doesn’t have a complete set of something.) I searched high and low and came up empty. I called and e-mailed every out-of-production china and silver location I could find. Yet there was no Silver Dawn to be found.
I realized that I had to come up with another plan. And plan B became the Arthur Price pattern, Jazz.

Jazz had been our first runner up when we originally picked our silver. When I finally adjusted to the fact that Silver Dawn was no more, I decided that Jazz would do nicely. Yet here was the problem. I had 5 place settings of a discontinued silver pattern. That wasn’t much to barter with when you sought to purchase a new full set of silver. But Kevin was fabulous. He took pity on my plight and found a way to get me a 12-place setting set of Jazz silver at a price that didn’t break my bank. He is my hero. (OK, he didn’t save me from a burning building, but for an OCD, everything-must-match diva like myself, this comes pretty darn close.)
Thank you, Kevin for your incredible customer service!
