Welcome To The Dollhouse

The Girls

I have to admit that when I began this induced lactation protocol, I didn’t take one of the instructions seriously. With the accelerated protocol that I am on, it says that you should stay on the combination of the pill and the domperidone for 30 days or until you increase one cup size.

One cup size, I scoffed to myself. I’m already a D cup. I’m not getting any bigger than that any time soon. Even when I was pregnant, I still fit into my D cup.

Well 30 days later, I am ready to eat crow. The girls are popping out all over…over the cup, below the underwire. Good lord. Am I really going to have to buy new bras? Have I moved to the DD?

Anyone know where I can rent a hospital-grade breast pump? (I’m not looking forward to the pumping stage.)

Geez, I am Tit-Babe! Scary.

No advice…just laughing! I must admit to being a little scared, though. I’m a D myself and I wonder if this will happen to me one day!

A pump-in-style is pretty reasonably priced and works as well as a hospital grade pump. Sometimes you can get ‘em used on ebay (not as gross as it sounds ‘cuz the plastic parts you get separately same as if you were renting). If you’re going to need to pump before, during and after baby’s arrival (and you’re gonna be working, right?) it’ll be cheaper in the long-run to just get your own. :)

    Try Abington Hospital

I am so in awe of you for going through the induced lactation. Yep, those D’s get bigger, I am proof of that. Not that my husband is complaining.

You should try a nearby hospital or medical supply company regarding renting a pump. It may be cheaper in the long run to buy, but I would see how it goes first.

How are things looking on the adoption front?

I didn’t know you started this lactation protocol, that is way cool for real. I didn’t breastfeed last time, too many complications yada yada yada..anywhoo that protocol sure is working tits girl :)

About the pump, in Canada they use the Medela breast pump in the hospital which I DID USE and boy it was pretty darn good, coming from someone who felt like a major MAJOR dork when it came to producing milk. They rent it out too… so just a thought as previous commentor said..it may be worth renting one from the hospital.

Can you let us know how that goes with finding one (could be useful info for me too)

    Thanks

ps: I liked your last best purchases post and the garmin gps navigator…I’m totally waiting for a price drop on that one..

Awesome about the girls. I found mine at a local crunchy breastfeeding/cloth diapering/slinging store. They were cheaper then the hospital. The only problem I’m anticipating (other then being totally intimidated by the hugeness at first) is lugging this big ol thing to work. I’m almost wondering if a pump in style would be better for portability, but I’m just not sure how much I want to invest in all this.

No advice! But now I am thinking yikes- I don’t think I can handle going up a cup size!

Motherwear.com has really good bras (including some with underwire if you need the support). I LOVE La Mystere bras and I’m pretty big. They do wonders although you have to handwash them or they don’t last as long.

Have you considered buying a Medela Lactina or a Symphony? These are both hospital grade pumps which are more portable than the Medela Classic (which retails for about twice as much). If you’re pumping for more than a few months, your rental fees (on a hospital grade pump) will just about equal your investment in buying one of these two, and you can always sell it on ebay (keep the box and the receipt, as many pumps sold on ebay or craigslist are stolen) or donate it when you’re finished.

I bought mine at hackleyhme.com. They are much cheaper than anyplace else (plus, free shipping).

The Medela Pump in Style is not recommended for inducing lactation or for women who exclusively pump. It’s a great pump for using a few times a day, however.

    I’m so happy for you!

Hey, you can get a hospital grade pump at Abington or at Chestnut Hill
