I Think I’ve Found It…The Ideal Computer Purse

As a frequent traveler, I’ve long been in search of items to help me travel a lot easier and smarter. This Christmas my brother bought me this small wheeled carry-on bag:
from Magellan’s Travel. I used it on my last overnight trip. It was cool and a lot smaller than my usual 20″ carry on suitcase.

But then we still had the purse issue. You only get to have 2 carry on bags. That often leaves women at a handicap since we tend to carry an overnight bag, a computer bag, and a purse. Despite my having a small purse, the airline people love to get snippy with me and force me to put the purse into my suitcase. I end up taking it out again on the other side of security, and that pisses them off, but oh well.

I’ve tried using my computer bag as a purse, but everything gets lost down at the bottom of the main compartment. It truly sucks. I can’t find my wallet, my boarding pass gets waylaid by the computer and some paper always gets pulled out when I try to extricate the computer to put it by itself in the security bin. Not to mention how often my Tumi computer bag loves to fall off my shoulder.

So I went in search of the ideal computer purse. I looked on Ebags, Zappos, Luggage.com, and Amazon. Nothing seemed right, until by sheer accident I found Abbi New York. There I saw the Sabrina:

Yes, this is a computer bag! It has a separate compartment for the laptop, so your papers and books can stay separate. It also has that cute matching mini purse for wallet, ID and lipstick. It can neatly tuck back inside the computer bag so that you end up with the requisite two bags when you cross the security line.

Best of all, not very expensive. So far it seems to stay on my shoulder as well.

Well, well, well…the ideal computer purse combination!

New lurker here, just wanted to comment on the Knitting post. I’m a lawyer (nice, I swear!) and work in the field of construction litigation. A “man’s” field, if you will. THere was one well-established, respected woman in the field here locally that would ALWAYS knit at meetings, mediations, etc. You’d get to thinking she wasn’t paying attention….. and out she’d come with some brilliant comment that was much better than whatever drivel had previously been said on the subject. Clearly knitting for her = power house woman lawyer. It was an unusual sight, but a welcome one!
