Welcome To The Dollhouse

There’s An Orbit In The House

I returned from Atlanta to find a giant box sitting in my foyer. The Orbit had arrived!!

Can I tell you that it is majorly cool?

I am totally smitten. All we need is a baby to go inside. Anyone want to help with that?

Tonight I venture to BabiesRUs with my buddy, K, in tow to add necessary items to my registry. Luckily K has 3 children, so she can clue me in because I don’t know what I should add. As far as I’m concerned, the Orbit is enough. smile_eyeroll

OK, I’m kidding. Help me out here. What should I add?

I’ll email you a list of stuff we have and love. It’s not quite as high end as your BEAUTIFUL Orbit system, but we like it.

YOu have like the best taste! That is the coolest stroller ever! Way cuter than the bugaboo.

Don’t register for clothes – people love to buy clothes and will buy you tons of stuff for gifts and they’ll pretty much buy what THEY want so registering is just a waste – same on blankets. I’m still waiting for my bebe to arrive, but at my book club the other night all the moms raved about the Maya Wrap so that’s something to keep in mind. A friend suggested foregoing the big bulky high chair in favor of a bumbo seat or one of the seats that hooks onto the table and then getting a Stokke Kinderzeat for use from toddler age on, her 6 year olds still use the Kinderzeat. She also suggested not going overboard on expensive swings/bouncy chairs/activitiy centers as none of her 3 kids liked any of that – some kids love ‘em some hate ‘em so she suggested borrowing or finding something second hand before investing in something your child hates.

What Suzanne said; hit the baby consignment/second hand shops for stuff like bouncy seats or swings. Or toys, for that matter, unless there’s something specific you really want your child to have.

Maya Wraps are really nice, but you might want to borrow one and try it out first. If you can, it’s nice to have more than one baby carrier. We had a Baby Bjorn that was fantastic up until she hit 6 months, then I used a podegi (Korean baby sling) and carried her on my back.

    Swaddle Me Blankets
    Boppy for breastfeeding

    Sling/Mei Tai/etc.

    Swing
