All That Went Wrong During My Latest Trip

I guess I should have learned after my disastrous previous trip to Denver (that I will clue you in on later), that when Denver is involved, things will not go according to plan.

Here’s everything that went wrong:

  1. Futzed around at work too long on Tuesday, so got home late to start packing.
  2. Pumped too long and was even later in starting my packing.
  3. Packed but forgot noise-canceling headset.
  4. Left home too late to get lunch on the way to the airport.
  5. Arrived on time to airport and found all lots from A-F full.
  6. Had to go to remote parking but missed exit to get there.
  7. Chose remote parking company who would perform my overdue car inspection while I was away.
  8. Discovered that I did not have current registration or insurance card in order for inspection to be performed.
  9. Sulked and went to regular parking space.
  10. Sent a Jott message to myself to remind me to find registration, insurance card and to get car inspected. (Now Jott is a great service a friend recommended to me!)
  11. Had breastpump searched once again in the security line.
  12. Had cold packs for breastmilk confiscated. Was told to just use ice.
  13. Attempted to use iPod on the plane and had no sound. Uncertain whether problem is new iPod or headset.
  14. After arrival in Denver, my bag was last off the belt.
  15. Rented funky car, Dodge Charger, that had cruise control lever in the position where the turn signal lever should be.
  16. Was attacked by tumbleweeds on the drive to the hotel.
  17. Needed to call “At Your Service” 3 times in order to get fridge in room.
  18. Was told by several friends that I was “brave” for adopting.
  19. Was told by other friend that she couldn’t think of adopting because her biological bond with her daughter was too strong.
  20. Had to rise at 4 AM for return flight to Philadelphia.
  21. Discovered after just passing the security checkpoint that I left my purse on the plane.
  22. Attempted to get slow-witted ticketing agent to understand that someone had to bring the purse out to me because I couldn’t get back through security without the identification that was in the purse.
  23. Waited ages for purse to be brought out to me, only to find (after the helpful TSA sista went to inquire) that the person bringing my purse to me somehow thought I was going to get my purse from her on the secure (sterile) side, not understanding that I was waiting 25 minutes for her outside the secure area.
  24. Received call from husband on landing letting me know that our landscaper had accidentally cut the cable.
  25. Drove home freaking out at the prospect of having no internet for the weekend, and passed cop.
  26. Cop turns around a pulls me over. Why? Expired inspection sticker. Received $107 ticket.
  27. Got home and found car registration in glove compartment.
  28. Quelled desire to jump off bridge.

Ugh. Glad you got there and back ok.

Why are cold packs not ok, but KY jelly is?

    How is pumping coming along?

  2. spyderkl says:

Yikes! Sorry you had such a rotten trip.

The absolute worst part of DIA is that damn baggage carousel. The worst. Even worse than the “security” line, and that’s saying something.

  3. Louise says:

What a horrendous trip! Glad you made it back safely. So much for the “friendly skies!”

  4. Janet says:

Sorry about the trip… but all I could focus on was the ice packs…. How is the pumping going??!!

  5. Jen says:

Sounds awful. Glad you made it back safely. Something about the philly-colorado thing, always trouble!
